The A Cappella Manila

The A Cappella Manila (ACM) is one of the Philippines’ most respected choral groups today. In its more than ten years of existence, the group has concertized extensively in the Philippines under the auspices of the Outreach Program of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. It has also enthralled international as well as Filipino audiences abroad in its international concert tours in Asia, Europe and North America.

Currently the A Cappella Manila is a member of the umbrella group of the Philippines’ best choruses, the Madz et al family. This umbrella group is composed of choirs conducted by members and alumni of the world renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers.

Throughout the year the ACM is busy with requests for performances in concerts, weddings, masses as well as corporate / private parties. In 2004 the ACM started its outreach program called Lakbay-Handog-Awit. In this outreach program the A Cappella Manila performs in various churches in the country for free! This project has been received warmly and with much enthusiasm.

Having achieved all these, the group does not falter in their commitment for excellence. Their long list of repertoire including Madrigals, religious, spirituals, international and local foclk and pop music continue to expand while they maintain their schedule of rigid rehearsals and music training.

The Choirmaster

Rodel M. Bugarin, or Sir Odie (as he's fondly known), has been the soul and driving force behind the A Cappella Manila since he co-founded the group in 1995. Being a researcher and educator by profession, he has helped shape new innovations in choral singing and vocal techniques for A Cappella Manila, and for the whole choral community in the Philippines.
